
The girls basketball season has started strong! So far they have won six games. At the beginning of the season, Coach Schaefer mentioned how the team and he hoped to be more competitive. This season, Coach has added 10 new faces to the team. At the beginning of the season, he hoped that the teammates would still be able to support each other even though they may have different interests.
Carly Gaedeke, senior, has the leading points and points per game, averaging 9.5 points per game. Throughout this season she has accumulated 19 points.
Anisten Barnett, a senior on the varsity basketball team, has set some achievable goals for this season, one being to host a district game. Another goal of Barnett’s is to make it to state. Barnett thought that tryouts early this season went well. Barnett described tryouts as, “Very competitive and high energy.” She hopes to be consistent with her shooting. As a team, she hopes the team would grow and become stronger with the ball by making better decisions. Overall, Barnett believes that this team has the talent and the ability to make it far this season.
