This week’s Teacher Tuesday spotlight is Ms. Wemhoff. She graduated from UNO and is a first-year English teacher. Her favorite part about being a teacher is talking to her students and getting to know them and according to Wemhoff, “Every day has an unexpected situation and you just learn to roll with it.”
Wemhoff knew she wanted to become a teacher when she was taking a practicum class in her sophomore year of college. Practicum is like student teaching but for less time. “I had a sixth-grade class in a storage closet with construction behind the room echoing and I liked the challenge of trying to get sixth graders to focus on me and not the construction,” Wemhoff added.
In her free time, Wemhoff likes to work out on her farm holding baby lambs or calves. Her favorite part she said, “is to help brand.” In high school, her favorite subject was choir because of what they called “Karaoke Tuesdays” and her favorite school dance was prom.
