School can be a stressful place for students, and one may get overwhelmed quickly. But you don’t have to worry about any of that! The incredible staff of the Counseling Office is specifically trained to help students with personal, social, career and academic questions.
We have four counselors here at CHS, and each is in charge of their own grade. Ms. Valerie Brown is in charge of the freshmen and works hard to make each student feel welcome. Mr. Jhonny Beltran is the newest counselor, and just joined the team this year. He works with the sophomores and is excited to get the new year started. Ms. Guadalupe Marino mentors the juniors and helps them determine what they want for their future and how to achieve it. The seniors’ counselor is Ms. Kim Loeffelholz, and she works hard to get students connected with colleges and trade schools to help them succeed in their future.
Another group of amazing people in the Counseling Office is the secretaries. Ms. Lynette Uchtman and Ms. Alondra Villanueva work hard every day to make sure kids are able to get what they need. They help schedule appointments, greet new students and handle all of the official documents given to the office by the students.
The final two lovely ladies in the office are Ms. Jessy Hill and Ms. Jill Spale. Ms. Hill has the difficult job of helping students deal with difficult personal situations such as family troubles, breakups, and losing someone they love. This is not an easy job, but Ms. Hill strives to be the best she can be at it. Ms. Spale is the social worker and works closely with students to help balance school, home life and activities. Both of these women are advocates for student mental health. In fact, in an interview, Ms. Spale stated, “Don’t be ashamed or embarrassed to reach out for help or support. Life can be tough and you don’t have to do it alone.”
