Leadership and Ethics is a new class/group that took the place of CHS 101. It is an application-only class, meaning you must apply and be accepted to be in it. This class teaches and improves students’ skills in leadership. This year’s group consists of around forty senior students.
Leadership and Ethics takes part in a lot of different activities. They mentor the freshman class and visit the freshman homerooms three times a month. When they visit the freshmen, they do small lessons with them and lots of fun activities. They also mentor one-on-one with freshman and sophomore students. Most Fridays, the students go to one of the elementary schools or the middle school and do activities with the students there. They also do fun stuff with the Cassette House students, like playing board games and cards.
The group also took a field trip to UNL’s Challenge Course and did some team bonding and leadership-building activities there. They played lots of games including the game where everyone has to go through a hula-hoop. They also climbed the big challenge tower while they were there.
Any underclassmen looking to build leadership skills should totally apply in the spring when the application comes out.
