This week’s Teacher Tuesday is the new assistant activitities director, Mr. Trofholz. Trofholz graduated from Schuyler Central High School in 2002 and then went to the University of South Dakota. At USD, he majored in education and then later went to Wayne State to get his masters in administration.
When asked why he wanted to be involved in the school system, Trofholz said, “A lot of my family is in education.” His grandfather was a superintendent, his parents were teachers and his sister was a teacher and administrator and is now working at the ESU. Before CHS, he was at Shelby-Rising City as a PE teacher and head girls basketball coach and for the last five years was an activities director. When asked what his favorite part about being an assistant activitites director was, he said, “I like watching kids compete every day. It is the best part of the job. I want to see teams and kids improve from beginning to the finish of the season.”
Outside of school, Trofholz enjoys golfing and hiking with his wife. He has golfed at over 100 courses in Nebraska and he has hiked to the highest point in 10 different states. His goal is to hike to the highest point in as many states as possible. Some other fun facts about Trofholz include that he played basketball while at USD. He also played basketball professionally overseas and was the Division ll National Player of the Year in 2006.
