At CHS, students recently finished up their first quarter of school. We surveyed students to see how their first semester went.
Overall, the freshman said that their first quarter was good and exciting. It seems like they are adjusting to the new change from middle school to high school very well! Freshman Katie Marquez said her first semester was, “Awesome, I made incredible bonds with my teachers and was able to make the volleyball team!” Freshman Adelle Kinnison said that her first semester was, “Good, very exciting and interesting. It was also very busy with activities.”
The sophomores had a pretty good first quarter. School work is starting to get hefty, but they are managing well! Sophomore Corbin McCullough said, “The first quarter was pretty good. There were many activities to join and the tests weren’t that hard.”
Juniors also are doing fairly well. The stress of junior year is starting to get to some of them. Junior Bronwyn Prokopec said, “It is pretty good so far. Musical and marching band are taking up all of my time and it is hard to stay on top of everything plus a job and schoolwork, but I am managing okay.” Jay Marino said, “Honestly it (the first quarter) was good, I like all but one of my classes. I really like my art and auto class. I am glad I got into them.”
Seniors have also been doing well. Personally, I had a pretty good first quarter and it has been going really slow. Senior Esteban Velazques said, “My first quarter went good, focusing on getting work done and passing all my classes. Getting to school on time every day.” Senior Jessica Gomez Cortez said, “My first quarter was decent, most of my classes were quiz or essay.”
Good job to the CHS students for fighting through the first half of the first semester. One down, three to go!
