As winter approaches, so do the CHS winter sports! One that is ready and coming in hot is Unified Bowling. The bowlers are warming up and getting ready to show their Discoverer spirit.
In the past few years, the team has been very successful. “Two years ago, we were the State Champions for Class A Unified Bowling, and last year we were the State Runners-up!” Coach Eickhoff says. Twenty-five bowlers are playing this year, and that number is increasing every year.
No matter their accomplishments, they focus on their goals: encourage relationships, create friendships and help students be part of a team. “Unified Bowling creates an opportunity for bowlers of any ability to be part of a team. We have bowlers who just started this year and bowlers who have bowled since they were very young,” says Eickhoff. The participants consider the relationships they make the biggest accomplishment. The team hopes to make it to State again this year while improving day by day and continuing to create relationships within the group.
Both in their last year of Unified Bowling, Tristan Reimer says “I like getting strikes,” and Matt Holcomb says, ”I just want to make it my best season yet.”
