This week’s spotlighted teacher is Ms. Pelc. Dubbed one of the “coolest teachers ever,” you can find her chatting with students, drinking a Celsius, and teaching difficult math topics.
Pelc has been teaching for six years total, and this is her fourth year at CHS. Prior to CHS, she taught at Wisner-Pilger and Dakota Valley in North Sioux City, SD. When asked about her favorite part of teaching, Pelc commented, “Every day is different! You never know what kind of wild, off the wall thing a high school student might say that will make me laugh. Teenagers are hilarious and I enjoy the fun they bring to my job.”
The classes you will see her teaching are Pre-Calculus and Algebra 2. She is certified to teach these high level classes through Wayne State College, where she majored in “secondary math education with an information technology endorsement.”
Outside of the classroom, Pelc is very busy managing the National Honor Society, teaching at CCC, and hanging out with her family. She has two daughters, Alexis and Ayda, and a dog named Brownie to care for. When she has some free time, Pelc likes to read, bake bread, and watch shows on Netflix.
If you ever have a math question, or just want a friendly chat, stop by Ms. Pelc’s room and she will hook you up!
