This week’s Teacher Tuesday is the activities and athletic director Timothy Kwapnioski.
Kwapnioski decided to be an athletic director because it allows him to stay involved in sports at the high school level, which is important to him. It has also allowed me to work side-by-side with our coaches to improve programs, facilities, and outcomes and watch our student-athletes perform/compete and grow as young men and women.
Before working at Columbus Public Schools he also worked at Norfolk Public Schools and Gering Public Schools. When asked his favorite part about being in the school system Kwapnioski said, “I enjoy the daily interactions with our students and I also enjoy watching our students perform and compete in all the sports and activities we offer.”
He went to high school at Columbus High School then went to South Dakota State University. At SDSU, he played football and majored in family relations and studies. Following his graduation from South Dakota State, Kwapnioski coached football at Black Hills University for two years. He also has masters degrees from Wayne State and University of Nebraska at Kearney and a Specialists degree from the University of Nebraska.
In his free time, Kwapnioski enjoys traveling and attending professional sporting events with his wife. When by himself, likes to read, fish and compete in BBQ competitions.
