This week’s Teacher Tuesday is Ms. Lara-Romo, one of Columbus High’s new English teachers.
Lara is from Schuyler and attended Schuyler Central High School. After high school, she attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She majored in 7-12 Language Arts Education with an endorsement in ESL (English as a Second Language). She is now at CHS because it is not only close to home, but she also found it so welcoming here.
She notes her inspiration for going into teaching was her high school speech coach, one of her greatest supporters; she wanted to return the favor by giving back to students of her own. She always excelled academically, but her interest in her ELA classes made it the obvious choice.
Outside of school, she enjoys walking her dogs, playing video games, and spending time with her family. She also enjoys being creative—whether it’s singing, playing piano, or creative writing!
