Guess what day it is? It’s Teacher Tuesday! Today, we are going to cover Ms. Rebecca Holland, a new teacher in the A+ Program at CHS.
Holland grew up on the outskirts of Valley, Nebraska, on a small farm. Though she is new to Columbus High, she has been educating for 15 years. Before coming to Columbus High, she spent 7 years teaching in Texas. How exciting! She received her undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Economics from the University of Nebraska – Kearney in 2008, and she earned her master’s in Educational Leadership from Doane University in 2021.
A fun fact about Holland: she goes on a run every morning! Before school, you can spot her running 5-7 miles to make sure she starts her day off right. She loves spending time with her four-year-old daughter, Jocelyn, especially when it comes to crafting and baking. Her favorite tradition with Jocelyn is their Ice Cream Friday dates, where they celebrate the end of the week with a sweet treat.
Holland’s favorite part of teaching is watching a student finally understand a concept they have been struggling with for a while. In her program especially, this can be extremely rewarding! Of all her memories from her first few months, Holland’s favorite memory so far is the first time a student in her class finished a course in Imagine Learning. What a sweet memory!
So next time you see Ms. Holland in the hallways, outside her classroom, or even out in public, be sure to say hi!
