Many new and experienced students are now walking the halls in their new grades. Every student has different feelings about and hopes for the new year. Here are the class of 2024-2027’s thoughts, feelings and dreams for this year!
Julian Magdelano, freshman, was asked about his expectations for this year and he said he expects to get good grades and try harder in his classes. Sophomore Matthew Krueger said he was more confident and that he expects to learn new things and interpret them in the world.
Junior Hailey Haynes says she feels anxious about this upcoming year but is excited at the same time because it is one year closer to graduation. Senior Makena Steensnes shares her expectations for her last year at CHS saying, “My plan for this year is to complete my work on time, pass, and graduate.”
We then asked sophomores, juniors and seniors what extracurricular activities they were involved in this year. Sophomore Savannah Klee is a part of the Diamond Dance Team, Student Ambassadors, FCA and she’s on the leadership team for Student Council.
Adam Cruise, junior, likes to keep his after-school life busy with football, track, FCA, Student Council, Godteens and Skill USA. Zoey De La Rosa, a senior, shares, “ I am involved in marching band this year. Later on in the year, I plan on being in tech for the musical and joining winter percussion. I am in B.I.O.N.I.C., Key Club, and work as a STRIVE tutor.”
Even though many freshmen are excited to begin high school, the transition can be very different for everyone. For Liberty Bos, the transition was smooth but nerve-racking. Other freshmen like Evan Seim and Macy Wemhoff said their transition was really great as they got all the help they needed and were excited about having more freedom.
Overall, starting a new school year can bring nerves and excitement. It is a different experience for everyone, but it should be made memorable. Enjoy the school year and make it something that you will look back on and never forget!
