The boys tennis team has had an eventful season at CHS. They’ve gained several new members and are training hard to make the most of this season. With a newer team, Coach Bethune says they aim to see improvement each week and secure a couple of wins here and there. As a team, they are all striving for success as this season plows on.
Recently, Bethune says the team has been focusing their efforts on the fundamentals of tennis, as well as the mentality and attitude they should have while playing on the court. So far, they’ve had a few ups and downs, but no major setbacks. The season has been going smoothly and the team has seen numerous wins.
Carter Goc, a senior, shares that the season has been going quite well for him. Since they have a younger team, his expectations for the season were to focus on improving and bettering their skills. So far, his favorite experience has been placing 2nd at the Columbus invite on September 1st. His personal goal is to win over half of the matches they will have and, most of all, enjoy himself playing on the courts.
While boys tennis has been going strong throughout the last month, there are still several more chances to see the team in action. The JV and varsity teams both have duals on October 2 against Fremont. On Friday, October 6, the varsity team will be attending the HAC Tennis Championship to compete against multiple schools at the Woods Tennis Center. The day after, the JV team will have a tournament against several other schools as well in Fremont.
However, the following weekend the boy’s Varsity team will be attending the State Tennis Tournament on October 12th, and the 13th. In anticipation of these competitions, make sure to mark your calendars and get your school spirit on to cheer them on as they compete!
