With all the available summer activities, there has to be at least one that makes you really excited for the break. For the CHS Anchor News Staff, we sure have our favorites! Here is our We Said: Favorite Summer Activity!
VIRGINIA SAYS: if your favorite summer activity isn’t having a picnic, you should maybe rethink your decision. Picnics are the best summer activity because you get to enjoy the company of your friends or family on a nice day with good food. Although the outdoors can be a little unreliable and full of creatures, there are many ways to work around those obstacles. Bug spray and the weather app will be your best friend WHEN having a picnic is your favorite summer activity. Pack up your favorite food, best plaid blanket and summer clothes, and let’s have a picnic!
HAZEL SAYS: The best thing to do during summer is your hobbies. They´re fun, can be used to connect with other people, and best of all you can stay in the air conditioning and avoid sunburns. Some hobbies I have are reading, writing, drawing and worldbuilding.
LIZ SAYS: The greatest activity to do during the summer is club running. First, running is a good way to get exercise and meet new people from around the state. Through summer running, I have met so many new people and new coaches, had the opportunity to run at nationals, become an All-American, and so much more. Second, club running also gave coaches exposure to me and has given me an insight into what track in college will be like. Club running is also good because it gives you a good summer body. Running at meets a lot will also give you a nice tan and your legs will get toned nicely.
LEXI SAYS: When it’s burning hot outside, what’s better than going for a nice, cool swim? Swimming is the best summer activity and is a great way to spend some time with friends and family, get some exercise and cool off. If you don’t have anything to do or you’re bored during summertime, swimming will keep you busy. Not only does it give you something to do, but swimming is a great form of exercise and it helps you get a solid tan! So don’t forget your sunscreen and sunglasses and take a trip to the pool!
CAMILA SAYS: You can’t say you have truly experienced summer break until you spend some quality time in the great outdoors. Camping is my all-time favorite activity to enjoy with friends and family. There are several places where you can camp in good old Nebraska. However, my favorite place to camp is always near a good lake. We usually go as a family with our pets and have a splendid time grilling, going on hikes, swimming and sitting around the campfire. We enjoy s’mores, long walks in nature, paddle boarding in the lake and spending quality time together. It’s a great way to bond with family and friends and keep in touch with nature. Anyone can go camping, so start making those summer plans, and make lifelong camping memories!
