Guess which teacher’s favorite food is tacos? If you guessed Mrs. Rabourn, you are correct! It is Rabourn’s first year teaching here at CHS, and she teaches English 12 and English 10 Honors. She is originally from the small town of Tilden, Nebraska. Currently, she and her family live in Shelby, and she has three kids, Emma, Owen, and Cole.
This is her 17th year teaching. She first taught for 11 years at Shelby Public Schools, but for the last five years, she has been at York Public Schools, where she also served as the district’s school improvement coordinator.
Her favorite part about teaching, “ …is the students, getting to know my students and forming strong relationships that go beyond the walls of my classroom has always been the greatest joy of this work I do each day.”
English may not be everyone’s favorite subject, but it sure is, Rabourn’s! She chose to teach English because of her love for the English language and reading. “I also knew that teaching English would provide me with an avenue to push my students to think more critically, make connections to the real world, and share their personal experiences as they relate to the content.”
One random fact about Mrs. Rabourn is that her favorite color is purple. She has been working hard this year so far, making sure her students have all the materials they need to have a successful year in her class.
