This year marks the 51st year of Columbus High School hosting the Columbus Marching Festival! What is CMF, you might ask? It consists of many marching bands meeting in Columbus to compete against each other in parade and field show. There will be 19 bands competing in the parade and 14 competing in the field shows. CMF takes place on Sept. 27, and we couldn’t be more excited!
The route for the CMF parade starts at NPPD, goes south to Hanover Square, west on 14th Ave., past the community building and the square, and ends on 29th Ave.
Mr. Peabody, who is in charge of the marching band, gave some insight and said he is most interested in seeing how the parade will turn out this year. About hosting CMF, Peabody said, “It is a ton more work to host one than to go to one, but there is nothing quite like having a home show.”
CMF is very fun for the students in the marching band because it is their very own home show, they know they are the very last to perform, and the big crowd that is there is for them. It is a very fun time, but it does take lots of practice to memorize the show and put on a great performance.
Come support the marching band at CMF on Sept. 27. They look forward to seeing you there!
