For our last Teacher Tuesday of the 2025-26 school year, let’s dive into the world of art! Meet Mrs. Stodola!
This is Stodola’s eighth and last year at CHS. She teaches many of the art classes, especially on the 2D side—Art Explorations, Art Techniques, 2D Media, Advanced 2D Media, Advanced Art, Graphic Design, and Photography. What she enjoys most about teaching the art classes is watching her students gain confidence and succeed beyond what they thought was possible.
She said, “I loved school when I was younger, and I consider myself a lifelong learner. I chose art because of my own natural abilities in the subject and because art teaches more than just a simple skill; it also teaches so many invisible soft skills that are important for students to practice and apply in their everyday life.”
After high school, Stodola attended Iowa State University and Southeast Community College for graphic design, then she took a break due to starting a family. She then attended Central Community College as a nontraditional student and received her Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She also attended Wayne State College and received her Bachelor of Science in K-12 Art Education.
Outside of school, what does Stodola enjoy doing? Her answer is simple: “Anything creative: cookie baking/decorating, painting, gardening, sewing, quilting, drawing, reading, podcast listening, home improvement, and I am sure there are some I am missing. I do not know how to sit still.” However, she notes she does not enjoy crochet or knitting.
As I previously mentioned, this is her last year at CHS. She remarked, “I am really going to miss my colleagues and students next year as I transition into a smaller school district.” As bittersweet as this is for her, we are so excited for her next chapter. But as she leaves, here is her advice to students: “There is so much creative potential and talent in so many students who walk the halls, and I hope that students embrace it, practice, and continue to make art! DO NOT use AI art! Seriously.”
That’s all for this week’s Teacher Tuesday! We’ll miss her next year, but we wish her well on her journey!
