Since the fall sports season has ended, Coach Robertson shares about the eventful season the girls golf team had. She shares that her highlight of this season was working with such a great team of girls. Although they were a bit low on numbers, they still preserved strong throughout their matches. They competed at the HAC conference and districts. A few of the girls also made State, which is a great accomplishment to achieve.
Molly Goc, a sophomore, performed exceptionally well in a majority of her matches. She placed within the top 15 in all of their invites, earning several medals. She medaled at the HAC conference and districts. Goc was one of the few girls who qualified for State as an individual. Alongside her was Jersey Odgaard, junior, who also competed at State. Coach Robertson says she was the team’s wild card. Although she struggled a bit, she improved steadily throughout the weeks as she practiced. Two experienced leaders for the team were Elizabeth Mowrey and Reagan Frerichs. Both seniors set great examples for the team.
The team did have a few setbacks as they progressed. The JV team struggled to score at their invites, but that didn’t stop them from having a good season. Coach Robertson shares that their biggest accomplishment as a team was the bond they formed. She says they had good chemistry and worked well together. Everyone was willing to help each other, on and off the course. They weren’t afraid of hard work and learning from their mistakes. Instead, they practiced with endurance and determination, learning from each other along the way. Each girl improved individually, which overall helped the team become stronger.
All in all, the girls golf team improved together and had a fairly successful season. While it’s sad to see the fall sports season end, it’s good to remember the accomplishments each team made along the way. Let’s hope that next year girls golf has a successful season with even more memorable experiences.
