Hello Discoverers! As this year is beginning, so are fall sports. This year’s first home football game will be on Friday, Aug. 29, hope you’re all excited! Coach Williams said, “One of our goals as a coaching staff is to see these young men grow into the best version of themselves as they can.” He also said, “We, of course, want to win football games and each athlete would agree that we are all eyeing a return to the playoffs at the end of the season.” I am super excited to see what this year’s season has in store for us, and after hearing from Coach Williams, I am pumped! Sophomore Xavien Lopez-Long said he is excited, “To see how well the sophomores perform this year.” I totally agree, but I know this season is going to be great no matter the outcome.
Another fall sport being recognized is…Softball! The girls on the team have been working hard and they are ready to take on this season. Senior Kyrstyn Long said the goals she has for this year are, “To play our best and try to have a winning record and maybe even make it to State.” She also included that she especially loves softball because of the bonds she has made on the team. The girls we have this year are for sure going places, possibly State, as Kyrstyn said. Softball is a sport where you must work together and the Columbus High team definitely shows it.
Let’s look forwards to the upcoming season and cheer on the Football and Softball teams representing Columbus High School! Come back tomorrow to read about more fall sports and what they have to offer!
