Just because Valentine’s Day has passed, it doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy a good romantic movie with your significant other.
Numerous movies contain romance themes, from romantic comedies to romantic tragedies, these movies all incorporate romance in their own unique way. Here are the top romance movies I recommend watching on Valentine’s Day (or any time)!
Starting at number four is a movie featuring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, La La Land. This film is about Sebastian (Ryan Gosling), and Mia (Emma Stone). They both wish to pursue their dreams, but their relationship interferes with each other’s paths. It’s a romance-filled story of how their passion brings them together and how their bond endures each other’s hopes and dreams. They both wish to reach those dreams, at any cost.
Next up is a great romantic comedy, Crazy Rich Asians. This heartfelt film always makes me laugh as it follows the two main characters, Rachel Chu and Nick Young, throughout their trip back home to meet Nick’s family. As Rachel gets to know Nick’s family, she struggles to fit in with such a rich family. His mother isn’t that fond of her so that creates conflict between her, his family and their relationship. It’s a funny yet relatable movie that brings a smile to your face as you watch this wild and humorous story unfold.
In second place is one of my favorite Pixar films, Wall-E. This incredible motion picture focuses on two robots whose purpose is to serve humans and planet Earth. One of the main characters, Wall-e, is a cleaning robot who has been cleaning the Earth for a long time, ever since the humans left on their ship due to too much pollution. One day, when Wall-E discovers plant life, another robot, Eve, arrives on Earth to see if the planet is habitable again. This leads both the robots on an adventure across space to bring back the humans as they also discover their own “electric” love for one another.
To conclude the list is a classic romantic tragedy based on the novel The Great Gatsby. This film, featuring Leonardo DiCaprio as Gatsby, follows Nick Carraway as he learns about a great and mysterious man, Gatsby. Everyone has their own story to tell about him, and when Carraway moves next door to him, he gets to know him for himself. He learns all about Gatsby and his relationship with his cousin Daisy. As Carraway learns more about Gastby throughout the film, he learns of the passion and love that Gastby has for Daisy. It’s a heartbreaking film, filled with passion as the story plays out.
All in all, those are just a few movies that I recommend watching on Valentine’s Day. They all have a different take on romance but are still worth watching with your special someone!
