As this new semester is progressing, many students have different classes. I have interviewed a variety of students about their favorite class of this semester so far.
Melissa Gomez-Vasquez said hers are Percussion, Spanish V, and U.S. History. She is also part of the Drumline for winter percussion and has been working hard on their show for this season.
Anatomy or AP Literature II is Jay Marino’s favorite. Being a senior, she says that it is easier to pick “fun” classes in your senior year because you have gone through the challenging portion. Marino plans to pursue biochemistry after her senior year, so having anatomy as one of her favorites makes sense. Literature, on the other hand, shows that all humans need something for love and passion. She takes advice from the movie Dead Poets Society, with Mr. Anderson saying, “We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion, medicine, law, business, and engineering; these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.” She applies this to everything she does: finding something for her future, but something to fill that human spark alive.
Junior Cloee Davis’s favorite is Early Childhood Education, along with sophomore Joseline Guitierrez as well. Guitierrez says she enjoys learning cool things and working with friends. This is a very popular elective as many students, including myself, say it is their favorite. This class is also a prerequisite for Early Child Practicum and is the class after Child Development.
