YAYAY! It’s that time of the month: artist of the week. This week’s artist is Lana Del Rey. 

Lana Del Rey is now a very successful artist, but do you know what she did to achieve her current success? She started her career in the early 2000s and signed her first record deal in 2007. She released her debut in an acoustic demo that was called “Sirens” under the name Jay Jailer. After signing with her new label, she released her breakthrough albums, like Video Games and Born to Die, which are still very popular today. 

A lot of Del Rey’s music is very popular, but her most popular song is “Summer Time Sadness.” It peaked on the Billboard top 100, and it also has millions of streams on different types of platforms like Spotify. Her single “Video Games” was her first-ever song to chart and remains one of her most popular songs today. 

A fun fact about Lana Del Rey is that she got her stage name from the Ford Del Rey car. This model was very popular in Brazil during the 1980s and 1990s. Before settling on her current name, she used other names like Lizzy Grant, Sparkle Jump rope queen, and May Jailer.
