Every student at CHS has many talents, and next week, a few of them will get to show them to our school. On Monday, the annual Variety Show takes the stage.
This year, there are 13 acts performing in the Variety Show, not including group performances such as those from the choirs, CHS Cheerleaders, and the Diamond Dancers. Each of these acts is unique, and it gives students a time to shine, even if they’re not typically involved or able to show these talents elsewhere.
Not only do the acts perform, but they also compete to win gift cards. There are three guest judges who meticulously score each act. And the best part? The audience also has a say. That means you (yes, you!) get to vote for your favorite act.
I briefly spoke with Mr. Ritter, who hosts the Variety Show each year. He said, “I enjoy the fact that this show gives students the opportunity to show off their skills in a way that they choose to a big crowd. So many of these performers care so much about their chosen art forms but don’t get the chance to perform them. It makes me happy to see them have a chance!”
I also spoke with a few people who are performing in the variety show.
Senior Bronwyn Prokopec will be singing “Jar of Hearts” by Christina Perri. She said, “I chose this song because I sang it in the 7th-grade talent show, and I want to show off how much I have improved as a singer since then.”
Freshman Keira White will be singing “Lost Boy” by Ruth B. She said, “I chose to do this song because I feel like a lot of people know it, and it would be fun. I am most excited to face my fear of singing by myself and also watching all of the acts.”
It’s sure to be a night filled with fun, and everybody hopes to see you there!
