It’s December, meaning the holiday season is in full swing! There are so many festivities to look forward to this month, including gift-giving. Speaking of gift giving, have you done your holiday shopping yet? Have you put together a wish list?
If you haven’t, fear not; I’ve asked CHS students what they want or are gifting others, so hopefully you can get some ideas. I’ve broken them up into categories, so hopefully you can find the perfect gift.
CLOTHING & ACCESSORIES
Clothing and accessories make great gifts. Not only are they simple, but they can be quite useful. There’s no such thing as too many clothes, right?
- t-shirts – graphic tees and plain
- sweatshirts and sweatpants
- athletic wear
- formal wear
- shoes – sneakers, boots, and sports shoes
- socks
- jewelry – necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings
- glasses
- hats
- purses and bags
SELF CARE & BEAUTY
Now is the time to add to the collection!
- makeup
- skincare
- lotions
- perfumes/colognes
- hair accessories – claw clips and scrunchies
HOBBIES
Have an expensive hobby or know someone who has one? This might be the time to ask for supplies!
- books
- record player and vinyl
- art supplies
- musical instruments – guitar, piano
- workout supplies and sports gear
- Lego
- board/card games
DECORATIONS
For those who have personalized rooms, this could be a great time for some small trinkets or functional items.
- blankets and pillows
- bedding
- posters
- stuffed animals – Jellycats are very popular this year!
- lighting – lamps and LED strips
- furniture – chairs, desks
- makeup or full-body mirror
ELECTRONICS
This can get quite expensive, but these could be good things to ask for, especially if you’re going to need them!
- earbuds or headphones – AirPods are a popular ask!
- smartwatch
- new phone
- iPad and Apple Pencil
- Computer
- gaming consoles – PlayStation, Xbox
- TV
- camera
- cases for any tech device
MISCELLANEOUS
Many gifts don’t necessarily fit into one of the above categories, but are still great! Some of these might make great stocking stuffers. Here are a few.
- water bottles – HydroJug, Owala, Stanley
- mugs – could be personalized or funny
- gift cards
- candles
- candy
- fun writing utensils – colored pens, highlighters, etc.
Here are a few additional pointers for your holiday shopping. It’s always a good idea to keep your receipt and/or get a gift receipt! That way, if you get a detail wrong, it’s easy to exchange your gift! And don’t forget, gifts don’t need to be expensive or perfect! Price ≠ meaningfulness.
BONUS TIP! If you’re a college-bound senior or you’re getting a gift for one, now is the time to think! Find something that could be useful or things that make them feel at home. The move to college can be quite expensive, so the holiday season is a great start.
Hopefully, now you have some ideas for yourself, family members, your White Elephant/Secret Santa gift exchange, your significant other, or maybe even your favorite writer on the school newspaper staff (only kidding).
