Welcome back to the site that talks about what the school is listening to. With the start of the new semester, we are changing up this recurring article and covering an artist a month.
Let’s get into the artist this month. It’s definitely something, especially if you are not familiar with the band. Fleetwood Mac is a mixed band that primarily focuses on the rock and folk genres, with their debut in 1967 with their album Memory Block. With this band growing to fame fast in the 1970s, drama was bound to follow. Singer Stevie Nicks would fall into a messy situationship with band member Lindsey Buckingham. If you are ever bored and want to dive into a messy love life, I would recommend reading their story. If you want to read a fictional story about it, I would recommend reading Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid, which is heavily inspired by Nicks and Buckingham’s relationship.
With their music having been around for a while, it is hard to pick favorites, but I did get some from the school. These songs include “Tusk,” “Dreams,” “The Chain,” “Rhiannon,” and “Landslide.” Technically speaking, “Landslide” is a Stevie Nicks solo song.
I interviewed Ashtyn Bethune about what got her into their music and what she would say to anyone wanting to get into their music. She said, “Daisy Jones & The Six is the main reason I got into it, and I just love 70s music. It is a lot more different from how music is today; it’s a nice break from what plays today.” Her advice was, “Listen to their greatest hits or their Rumors album and then ease into their other music, it makes it easier to get into them. I would also watch Daisy Jones & the Six, but only after you read it.”
Next time you need something to tie into your situationship, I would recommend listening to them, especially “Silver Springs.” I wish you the best in your endeavour, but don’t forget to check in next month to see if your artist gets mentioned.
