The city of Columbus is constantly growing with new places opening up, such as Five Below and Bath & Body Works. Of course, it’s nice to see Columbus growing, but with its growth should come some new businesses.
Many CHS students said that they wanted more sit-down restaurants, such as Emily Diaz, who thought Olive Garden would be a great addition to Columbus. Her explanation was “…because Columbus has the potential to grow, so we need the places for the people of Columbus.” Texas Roadhouse was also a popular option with Yailys Rodriguez-Fernandez, saying she would definitely enjoy it!
Of course, although we are not Omaha, we are still a city that has many people who are always busy– and hungry. We have a variety of fast food places here in Columbus, but we could always have more. Many students suggested Raising Cane’s, Wing Stop, Chick-fil-A, and In-N-Out. Anthony Del-Rio-Juarez also requested bringing Little Caesars back to Columbus, and I totally agree! As Columbus’s population continues to grow, the number of businesses should increase as well, and I think these could be great additions to the food scene.
Students also thought that Columbus could use more store branches, such as Target or Sam’s Club. Taya Hinkle said, “I would like to see a Target because we need the quality of the things they have at Target here.” We have a Walmart, but a Target here in Columbus could increase the places where we can find our everyday items.
The most popular option by students here at CHS is a mall. Jazmine Hernandez stated, “I think it would be cool if an outdoor mall were added to Columbus. You wouldn’t have to drive all the way to Omaha anymore, and it would be a fun place to walk around with friends.” A mall in Columbus would be pretty great and would take out the long trip to another city. It could also be a place where you and your friends could complete side quests or simply get out of the house.
Some students even think a Barnes & Noble would be great. Of course, the public library has amazing book options, but an additional bookstore like Barnes & Noble could increase the variety even more!
Brooks Eisenmann said if a Skyzone or Urban Air were added to Columbus, it would be really cool. The YMCA here does include a small trampoline area, but having a whole trampoline park in our very own city would be awesome. Adding these would heavily increase the activities to do in Columbus and keep many of us teens from boredom.
Of course, Columbus is still quite small for some, and not many of these businesses would fit in it, but they are nice to think about. But who knows, it could be the future of Columbus. Only time will tell what does get added, but for now, let’s enjoy what we do have offered here in Columbus.
