Hello, Discoverers, welcome back for another article, and today we will be discussing the history behind April Fool’s Day.
As everyone knows, April Fool’s is annually celebrated on April 1. It comes from very murky and mysterious origins that were celebrated during festivals. April Fools’ Day began to be celebrated in 1564 when France changed the calendar to a Gregorian calendar, which means New Year’s Day moved from April 1 to January 1. People slowly adapted and celebrated it in late March.
In France, they would do a tradition every April Fool’s Day; they would tape paper fish on their backs as a fun joke to celebrate the day. Also in Scotland, they celebrated this day by hunting. This was a two-day thing for the people in Scotland, where they would go goose hunting. The second day was known as Tailie Day, which features pranks, games, and taping paper to people’s backs.
Happy April Fools’ Day, Discoverers! And if you fell for any of the articles, maybe check the date next time.
