Hello ,Discoverers! We have four girls state wrestling qualifiers!
Sophomore Brittley Braitwait was very excited when she qualified for State. She started jumping up and down, crying, then went to jump into her coach’s arms. Her favorite memory from this season is their six hour drive to Gering and staying in a hotel with her teammates. Something she’s excited for next year is seeing all the 8th graders who are going to be coming up, seeing how many more girls make it to State, and seeing them reach their goals.
Freshman Olivia Bice said that the feeling of qualifying for State was definitely a very exciting feeling and a crazy rollercoaster of emotions. One of her favorite memories of the year is on Fridays when they all got to dress up in different themes as something. She is most excited to see how their team grows next year with some new members and for people to grow as wrestlers.
Junior Gracie Trejo said that she was shocked that she qualified because she wasn’t supposed to win her match, and she couldn’t believe that she had beaten an undefeated wrestler who was ranked #2 in the state. Her favorite memory of the season was seeing her mom in the stands at every event and being able to run to her after every match. She is most excited for the freshman they will have on the team next year. The girls wrestling team is growing so much and she knows that there is a big group of freshmen joining them next year!
Junior Natalie Cruz said that she was really happy that she had become a returning state qualifier for the girls wrestling team and all the hard work she put in this season has paid off. Her favorite memory of the season is getting closer with her teammates and adding wins to her record. Something she is excited for next year is hopefully getting her 100th career win and returning to State!
