How are we already approaching the end of Semester 1?! It’s absolutely astounding how fast the year has gone, and how many winter sports have already been competing!
A lot has happened in the Discoverers’ world this week, so let’s dive right in!
Saturday, Dec 6
To start off the weekend, the varsity swim and dive team had their invitational at Hastings. Each athlete did amazing during the competition, and crushed it in the pool! On that same day, the girls and boys varsity wrestlers headed to the Bennington invitational, where they crushed their competition. The girls basketball teams made their way to Omaha Westview to battle the Buena Vista team. Although our team was tied with their opponent at the half, they were able to come out on top 50-41 at the end!! The boys game against Omaha Westview was absolutely electric, and it will be one for the books. The boys did not win this matchup (73-64), but they only fell short during the overtime, the Discoverers’ first of the season!
Monday, Dec 8
Starting the week strong, the Unified Bowling team competed at the state championship, and did absolutely incredible. The girls basketball team made their way to Fremont on Monday, and boy did they have something to offer! They fought hard, and came out with a victory, 36-32. Boys basketball made their way to Omaha North, where they fought long and hard. They may have come up short in this close matchup of 63-50, but the Discoverers put in immense amounts of effort!
Wednesday, Dec 10
Traveling to Omaha Westview on this day were our varsity girls and boys basketball teams. The girls team went against the Benson team, and came up short in the competition, scoring 32-67. Luckily, the boys team had a little more luck, and pushed their way to a victory over the Bison with a score of 57-45.
Friday, Dec 12
Varsity bowling kicked off the weekend at home against Lincoln East. The boys varsity wrestling team headed to Lewis Central to compete against multiple other school, and did amazing in their competition. Unfortunately, last night was not a great night for the girls or boys varsity basketball teams. The boys ended their relentless fight against Lincoln Southeast at 49-79, and the girls also lost, 18-52.
