Welcome back to Teacher Tuesday! Today, let’s meet Ms. Lenser!
She went to Ursinus College in Collegeville, Penn, and she received a Bachelor of Arts in history. On the topic of her college, she remarks, “I swear it is real, you can look it up. It was also a question on Jeopardy this season.”
Lenser has been teaching for 22 years—all at CHS! She is in both the Social Sciences and the English Language Learners departments. She currently teaches US History, World History, Geography, and Fundamentals of Economics. In the past, she has also taught US History 1, Government, Language Arts, and Language Development.
Now, why did Lenser choose teaching, and why social studies? She said, “Honestly, I always have been kind of a teacher type. In first grade, according to my mom, my teacher, Ms. Dorsey, said I was helping to keep the centers organized and running just like the teacher. I love the content of Social Studies, and I wanted to share that love with others.” As for EL, that wasn’t part of her plan; it was offered to her, and she hasn’t looked back. She said, “You don’t find EL; EL finds you.”
Her favorite part about teaching is meeting all her students. She enjoys watching them grow not only their knowledge and language skills, but also as people. She is also the Quiz Bowl sponsor and thoroughly enjoys it.
Outside of the classroom, Lenser enjoys reading and camping with her family in the summer. She notes that they usually take one big camping trip each summer in their camper.
That’s all for this week’s Teacher Tuesday! When you see Ms. Lenser, don’t be afraid to stop and say hi!
