As summer break quickly approaches Columbus, so do many changes within the district. Teachers are transferring, wages are staying the same, and a rebrand is on the way.

I heard directly from the “higher-ups” that a CPS rebrand is in store. While it is not too different from the original theme of the Discoverers, we are pivoting to a more “oceanic” approach. Meet the CPS Explorers, also known as the CPS Seven Seas.

Now, you’re probably thinking. Savannah?? How in the world could they come up with seven “sea-related” things? This has to be a joke. Well, I’m here to tell you it’s not! Here is the list that is currently in the works.

Columbus High School – Hermit Crabs
Columbus Middle School – Manatees
Centennial – Starfish
Emerson – Electric Eels
Lost Creek – Lobsters
North Park – Narwhals
West Park – Whales

With a rebrand of a district comes a new set of mascots. We are in DESPERATE need of some students to be a mascot (the name is TBD). If you are interested, auditions are after school today, April 1st, at 4pm. See you there!
