For the past few months, our Teacher Tuesday articles have been featuring the new staff at Columbus High School; we have two left! Before we leave for Fall Break, let’s finish off our new staff features with our last two: Mr. Moore and Ms. Thomson!
Mr. Moore
Mr. Jackson Moore is CHS’s new ISS supervisor. His day mostly consists of keeping students on track with their schoolwork. Once his students are in his room for the day, he emails their teachers asking about their homework for the day. He said, “My favorite thing is when I have a student take their ISS seriously and use their time wisely, then they change their ways for the better.”
In his personal time, he spends time with his wife, and he is also involved in the community. He recently started volunteering with the Columbus Bowling team and sings in his church’s choir as well as running the church’s Facebook Live service.
Ms. Thomson
Ms. Ashley Thomson is the new bookkeeper; she keeps track of the school’s finances. Her job involves taking care of anything money. Anything a teacher or activities sponsor buys—whether it be sports equipment, books, supplies, or tissues—goes through her. She also keeps all billing records, as well as billing and payroll.
Her favorite part of CHS is the student activities. She said, “I love watching the CHS sports teams compete. The band, choir, musical, and Art Club show off their skills throughout the year with showcases, and it’s always fun to see what they perform or create.”
There you have it: a full rundown of Columbus High’s new staff members and all the things you should know about them! But don’t worry; Teacher Tuesday isn’t going anywhere. We have so many more fantastic staff members to feature!
