Teacher of Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Early Child Practicum, and Human Growth and Development–Mrs. Nielsen
She has taught here at CHS for her whole career, which is now five years. She chose to become an FCS teacher “…because I love the hands-on learning experience we can offer. We teach students every day practical life skills that help them better themselves, their family, and their community.”
Nielsen said one difficult part about teaching is simply technology. Sometimes it won’t work the way it needs to, and it can interfere with lessons, but she powers through anyway.
Nielsen’s favorite part about teaching is “…guiding students as they develop life skills and creating meaningful relationships that support their growth.”
Nielsen is also the CHS FCCLA (Family Community Career Leaders of America) advisor. She helps students complete projects they are competing in, and she plans many community service projects, such as the pop tab project and trunk-or-treat.
Some fun facts about Nielsen are that her favorite food type is Chinese, and her favorite drink is mocha from The Broken Mug. She also loves the color yellow and the season of fall. Finally, her newest favorite binge show is Stranger Things.
Have a great day, Discoverers, and come back tomorrow for a new article!
