All the spring sports have been competing and working hard, so here is a recap!
First, we will start with boys soccer, which had five games across the reserve, JV, and varsity levels. Varsity played on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday against Grand Island, Lincoln Northeast, and Norfolk. Unfortunately, the boys took a loss at all three games, but they have another game today, and hopefully they can make it a win.
Next is baseball, which had three games on the same day last Tuesday, with all the teams, reserve, JV, and varsity. JV and varsity were held at Pawnee Park against Elkhorn, where varsity won 4-3, and reserves were against Grand Island at Ashley Park. On Wednesday, JV and varsity had games against Crete at their home field; varsity lost that close game 6-7. On Thursday, the reserve team had a game against Lincoln Southeast at Pawnee Park. On Friday, JV and varsity once again had games against Fremont at Pawnee Park (varsity lost 4-8), and finally, on Saturday, varsity had a triangular against LNE and Buena Vista. They split the action, losing to Northeast 1-3 and beating Buena Vista 12-1. Finally, reserves had a game against Standing Bear at Pawnee Park.
On Monday, for the track and field team, there was a JV meet against multiple schools at the Grand Island track, with Bradyn Bartholomew placing first in the 800m with a 2:13. On Tuesday, there was a freshman invitational at Fremont against multiple schools, and on Thursday, there was a unified and varsity meet at the Norfolk track. Michael Voichoskie finished first in discus, and Esteban Arcos won both the triple jump and 300 IH. Jaeston Delano (pole vault), Payten Andresen (shot put), Jaxson Vasicek (high jump), Paighton Erb (high jump), and Ruby Shea (triple jump) all finished second.
The girls’ soccer team on Tuesday had a tournament game against LSW, unfortunately losing, resulting in their consolation game on Thursday against Lincoln East. On Saturday, the varsity and JV teams had a game against Millard North at the CCC turf, with varsity winning 1-0.
On Tuesday, the boys JV golf team had an invitational against multiple schools at the Pioneers Golf Course, with the team breaking 400. On Thursday, there was the varsity invitational at the Elks Country Club, with Bryce Brown leading with a 79.
On Monday, was the girls’ varsity tennis invitational at the Woods Tennis Center, followed by the JV and varsity duals against Fremont on the Fremont courts. On Thursday, there was another dual against Norfolk at Pawnee Park with the JV and reserve teams competing; unfortunately, both teams came short of a win.
